# Cryptominium Exit-Friction Index

What selling a crypto position actually returns, measured. Every day Cryptominium asks live DEX routing (aggregator quotes) for a fixed-size sell of each tracked token — $100,000 — on each chain it reads, and records how much of the quoted value is lost to price impact: the **exit friction**. Each month, the index is the median of each token's own median friction.

These are the rolling files, updated daily; the open month is marked `provisional`. Months covered: 2026-08 to 2026-09.

## Files

**exit_index.csv** — one row per month.

| column | meaning |
|---|---|
| month | YYYY-MM |
| status | `final` (closed, never recomputed) or `provisional` (the open month) |
| sell_size_usd | the sell size every token was priced at |
| chains | chains swept that month |
| tokens_measured | tokens with at least one usable quote that month |
| median_friction_pct | the index: median of per-token median friction |
| p25_friction_pct, p75_friction_pct | quartiles of the same |
| share_losing_over_half_pct | % of tokens whose median friction exceeded 50% |
| share_losing_under_1_pct | % of tokens under 1% |
| tokens_tracked, tokens_addressable, tokens_unmeasurable | the universe: tracked assets, those with a contract on a swept chain, those the sweep reached and could not measure |
| computed_at | UTC time the row was computed |
| url | the month's report |

**exit_tokens.csv** — one row per token, chain and month: the figures the index median is taken over.

| column | meaning |
|---|---|
| month, status | as above |
| reconstructed | 1 if the month was backfilled after closing (see Limits) |
| chain, token_address | the market measured; the same ticker on two chains is two rows |
| symbol, cryptominium_slug | the token as Cryptominium names it |
| sell_size_usd | sell size |
| days_measured | days with a usable quote |
| days_no_quote | days the router returned no usable quote at that size |
| median_friction_pct | the token's median friction that month (what the index uses) |
| p25/p75/min/max_friction_pct | spread of its daily readings |
| first_day, last_day | first and last day with a usable quote |
| url | the token's exit page |

## Reproducing the index

For any month, the median of `median_friction_pct` over that month's rows in exit_tokens.csv equals `median_friction_pct` in exit_index.csv (to rounding) — except in reconstructed months.

```python
import pandas as pd
t = pd.read_csv('exit_tokens.csv')
t[t.reconstructed == 0].groupby('month').median_friction_pct.median()
```

## Limits

- One sell size. Friction at $100,000 says little about $1,000 or $10 million.
- On-chain only. Tokens that trade mostly on centralised exchanges are deliberately not measured, because a DEX sell would not show what a holder can actually get.
- Aggregator quotes, not executed trades. A quote is what the router offered at that moment.
- **2026-08** is reconstructed: the index was published over 78 tokens, but only 54 tokens' daily readings survived to be exported. The index row is the one that was published; the token file for that month is incomplete and marked `reconstructed = 1`.

## What is not in it

No personal data of any kind: nothing anybody searched for, no wallets or addresses people looked up, no visitor data. No upstream market data either (prices, pool liquidity) — those belong to their providers.
