What it actually costs to sell DG
Selling $100,000 of DG returned 5.7% less than the quoted price — Costly. Measured 2026-10-20 on Ethereum.
What DeGate is
DeGate is a self-custodial multichain crypto wallet that combines swapping, earning, and access to on-chain markets in a single app. It originally operated as an order book decentralized exchange built on its own Ethereum Layer 2 ZK-rollup; that product was sunset in June 2025. The wallet, launched in December 2024, has been the project's sole product since.
The wallet lets users swap, send, earn, and hold assets from one balance rather than managing separate wallets and bridges per chain. Cross-chain swaps route automatically without manual bridging, and USDC can be used to pay gas on every supported network, removing the need to hold each chain's native token. Additional features include one-click liquidity provision (Turbo Range), curated earning vaults (Simple Earn), and access to tokenized stocks, indices, and gold from regulated issuers, settled in USDC. DG is the DeGate protocol's governance token on Ethereum, giving holders a voice in decisions about the project's direction; it carries no stated claim on revenue or product cash flow.
DG is an Ethereum-only token, by the measured deployment data, despite the wallet's own multichain reach for swaps and gas payments — the token itself does not live on the other chains the wallet connects to. Governance tokens of this kind confer a vote, not an ownership stake or an income stream, and the source describes no revenue-sharing or buyback mechanism tied to DG. The project's core product has already changed once, from an order book DEX to a wallet, which is worth noting for anyone assuming current functionality is permanent. CoinGecko's own classification spans infrastructure, DeFi, wallets, and chain abstraction simultaneously — a sign the category itself is still unsettled rather than a precise descriptor.
Where DG lives
On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
