What Humanity is
Humanity Protocol is a blockchain built around a native Proof of Humanity (PoH) consensus mechanism, designed to verify that users are unique individual humans. It does this through decentralized identifiers (DID) and verifiable credentials (VC), combined with privacy-preserving human recognition, decentralized storage, and zero-knowledge proofs.
The stated mechanism works by issuing each verified person credentials tied to their identity without exposing the underlying personal data, using zero-knowledge proofs to confirm claims (such as "this account belongs to one unique human") without revealing the data behind them. This is meant to resist sybil attacks — the creation of many fake identities by one actor — while letting users retain self-sovereign control over their own credentials and data rather than handing them to a central verifier.
Humanity is deployed on Ethereum as a single chain; it is not a multi-chain protocol by current deployment. It is categorized by CoinGecko under infrastructure, smart contract platform, zero-knowledge, and privacy tags, among others — a breadth of classification that reflects a project positioned at the intersection of several categories rather than a narrowly defined product. The source describes a consensus and identity mechanism, not a specific application; it says nothing about token utility, governance rights, revenue share, or what, if anything, holding the token entitles a user to do within the protocol. Verification claims of "uniqueness" and "sybil resistance" are architectural goals stated by the project itself, not independently measured outcomes, and the passage provides no figures on adoption, number of verified identities, or audit status to substantiate them.
Where H lives
On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
