What ResearchCoin is
ResearchCoin (RSC) is the governance and rewards token of ResearchHub, a platform built around the goal of accelerating scientific research by letting people collaborate on it the way developers collaborate on GitHub.
RSC is distributed to contributors for specific platform actions — uploading scientific literature, or having content upvoted by other users. Beyond rewards, RSC has secondary uses within the platform: users can tip content they find valuable, and can open bounties to pay for tasks such as peer review, meta-analyses, or graphical abstracts for papers. The token is deployed on both Ethereum and Base.
RSC is not a claim on any organization's revenue or equity — it is a utility and governance token tied to activity on one platform. Its value depends on continued use of ResearchHub itself; a token designed to reward uploads and upvotes does not, by that design, carry any dividend, buyback, or profit-sharing mechanism. It falls under CoinGecko's Decentralized Science category, a niche still small and largely unproven relative to established crypto sectors, meaning the underlying use case — paying for scientific tasks like peer review with a token — has not been tested at scale. Multi-chain deployment (Base and Ethereum) means liquidity and activity may be split across networks rather than concentrated in one. No information here indicates a founding date, founding team, or funding history, and none should be assumed.
Where RSC lives
On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
