What Spacecoin is
Spacecoin (SPACE) is a project building a satellite-based decentralized internet network intended to provide connectivity without relying heavily on traditional infrastructure such as cell towers and fiber-optic cables. It describes its target users as the 2.6 billion people globally who have never connected to the internet and a further 3.5 billion who have restricted access, with planned service in Nigeria, Indonesia, and India.
The network consists of blockchain-enabled small satellites in low-Earth orbit that transmit data back to Earth. It is designed as an open system in which anyone can add satellites to the constellation. Spacecoin states target pricing of $1-2 per month per user in its initial countries. The first satellite launched in December 2024, with three more planned for October 2025.
SPACE is deployed as a token on the BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum, meaning the asset itself is a blockchain-based claim running on existing general-purpose networks, not a satellite or a piece of hardware. Classification sources tag it under communications, infrastructure, and DePIN categories, reflecting the stated use case rather than a verified operating network. The source describes plans and a single satellite launch to date; whether the full constellation reaches orbit, whether it delivers connectivity at the stated price, and whether the open-add-satellite model functions as described are not established by anything here. Nothing in the source or the measured facts indicates revenue, user numbers, or network uptime. What exists, as of the material available, is a token tradable on two established chains and a satellite-internet project still largely ahead of it.
Where SPACE lives
