What Uquid Coin is

Uquid Coin (UQC) is an ERC-20 token built on Ethereum, created to support the Uquid ecosystem. The Uquid card project began in 2016 as, according to its own account, the first to issue prepaid payment cards for bitcoin and altcoins, with those cards later extended to support over 100 types of altcoins.

The token's stated purpose is to let holders cash out their coins and to help altcoin users spend them at online retailers such as eBay and Amazon through the Uquid ecosystem, with a further goal of building a card-less system by 2020. UQC functions within this setup as the ecosystem's native asset, layered on top of the card infrastructure rather than replacing it.

UQC is a single-chain Ethereum token; it carries no functionality beyond what the ERC-20 standard and the issuing ecosystem provide, and any card, redemption or merchant integration depends entirely on Uquid's own infrastructure staying operational and supported. CoinGecko classifies it under the Ethereum Ecosystem category, a descriptor of its technical grouping, not an endorsement of its use case or adoption. The source describes a 2020 target for a "card-less system"; no information here confirms whether that target was reached. Nothing in the source addresses the token's issuance, supply, or governance, and no such detail should be assumed.

GoPlus reading, 15 October Blocking addresses: set, held by 0x8f4d…4058 · Pausing transfers: set, held by 0x8f4d…4058 · GoPlus

On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.

Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.

The exit-friction index

Once a month we publish what a $100,000 exit really costs across every token we can measure. Leave an address and this month’s figure arrives straight away, and we will write again when the next index publishes. Nothing else, and never to anyone else.
