What Zip coin is

Zip Coin ($ZC) is described by its creators as an on-chain messaging experiment on Ethereum, inspired by Vitalik Buterin's ideas around permanent, verifiable communication on the blockchain.

The mechanism ties token and function together: users burn $ZC to publish and sign messages directly on-chain, making each message a permanent entry in Ethereum's history. Because publishing requires burning, usage of the protocol is designed to reduce the circulating supply over time — the more messages posted, the more $ZC is permanently removed.

What this is not: a privacy tool, despite CoinGecko's classification tags. Burning tokens to write a message on a public, immutable ledger is the opposite of private — the message, the sender, and the burn are all visible on-chain indefinitely. It is also not a general payments or utility token; its only stated function is this burn-to-post mechanic, so any value depends entirely on continued demand to publish messages, not on cash flow, staking yield, or external revenue. The source does not name a founding team, a company, or a launch date, so none is given here. It runs on a single chain, Ethereum, with no stated plans or mechanisms for expansion described in the source. Whether permanent on-chain messages constitute a durable use case, or simply a novel wrapper around a burn mechanic common to many tokens, is not something the source material settles.

GoPlus reading, 5 November Blocking addresses: none · Pausing transfers: none · GoPlus

On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.

Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.

The exit-friction index

Once a month we publish what a $100,000 exit really costs across every token we can measure. Leave an address and this month’s figure arrives straight away, and we will write again when the next index publishes. Nothing else, and never to anyone else.
