What was the Ronin bridge hack?

In March 2022 about $620 million in crypto was stolen from the Ronin bridge, which connects the Ronin network used by the game Axie Infinity to Ethereum. The FBI attributed the theft to the Lazarus Group, hackers associated with North Korea.

What it means for you

A bridge holds the coins behind every wrapped token it has issued, which makes it a large target. If the bridge loses them, those tokens can be left unbacked.

How it works

On April 14, 2022, the FBI confirmed that Lazarus Group and APT38, cyber actors associated with North Korea, were responsible for the theft of $620 million in Ethereum reported on March 29.
