Soulbound token

A soulbound token is an NFT that cannot be transferred or sold once it lands in a wallet. It is meant to record something about that account, such as attending an event, earning a credential or holding membership, rather than to be traded.

What it means for you. Because it cannot move, a soulbound token stays with the address: lose the keys and you lose it, and you cannot send it to a new wallet. What it records is public and tied to that address, so one linked to your identity can expose more about you than you intended.

NFT

An NFT (non-fungible token) is a token on a blockchain that is unique: each one has its own ID and cannot be swapped one-for-one with another. It is often linked to digital art, a collectible or a membership, and the blockchain records who holds it.

What it means for you. Buying an NFT buys the token, not automatically the copyright in the work it points to; creators can keep those rights. The image is often stored off the blockchain behind a link, and each NFT needs its own buyer, so one can be hard to sell at any price.
