What BTCPay Server is
BTCPay Server is a self-hosted, open-source cryptocurrency payment processor. Customers can launch an instance on a cloud server, their own hardware, or an existing host, then connect an e-commerce store or use one of several apps to accept payments. Funds arrive directly to the customer's connected wallet rather than passing through a third party.
The software includes tools for invoicing and bookkeeping, a point-of-sale app, tipping buttons, payment links, and crowdfunding pages, along with a built-in wallet that supports hardware wallets. It also offers an API for automating workflows and managing stores, invoices, and users. BTCPay Server describes itself as an open-source project rather than a company, maintained by a network of contributors and users.
