In 2025 Canada's FINTRAC fined a MoonPay subsidiary about C$537,000 for anti-money-laundering failures; it has appealed. In 2024 the Texas Department of Banking fined MoonPay $30,516 in a consent order for stablecoin sales it found to be unlicensed money transmission; MoonPay neither admitted nor denied the findings. In 2021 Malta's financial regulator, the MFSA, declined to license MoonPay's Malta company and directed it to stop operating from Malta.
