What it actually costs to sell DIMO
Selling $100,000 of DIMO into each exchange’s resting bids, measured against the mid price:
| Exchange | Lost | Got back | Measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase DIMO/USD | the book could not absorb it | 2026-11-04 | |
Exchange figures need an account there (and KYC, a permitted country, the tokens already deposited), are before trading fees, and are never averaged with the on-chain figure. Binance is not included: it refuses requests from the region our servers are in. How this is measured →
Watch this number instead of remembering it. A free account keeps DIMO on a list, records where it stood the day you added it, and emails you if selling it on these exchanges gets materially harder — one message, not a series. The measurement itself stays public; the account is for being told when it moves without you looking.
What DIMO is
DIMO is an open vehicle connectivity platform. Owners connect their cars to DIMO, store their own vehicle data, and can share that data in exchange for discounts or other services, earning DIMO tokens in the process. Developers can build applications on top of the platform that work across different vehicle makes and models.
The platform's core function is to let vehicle data flow through a system the owner controls rather than the car manufacturer. A car's connection to DIMO generates data that is stored under the owner's control; sharing it with an insurer, developer, or service provider is a choice the owner makes, and that choice is rewarded with tokens. Applications built on DIMO draw on this shared data layer, which is designed to work across vehicles rather than being tied to one manufacturer's proprietary system.
DIMO is classified by data aggregators under categories including Polygon Ecosystem, IoTeX Ecosystem, Ethereum Ecosystem, and DePIN, and it is deployed across the Ethereum, IoTeX, and Polygon PoS networks. It is not a car itself, a telematics device on its own, or an insurance product — it is infrastructure that other services plug into, so its usefulness depends on how many vehicles are actually connected and how many applications are actually built on it, neither of which is stated here. Its presence across three separate chains means value and activity can be fragmented rather than concentrated, and the token-reward mechanism for sharing data is a feature of the platform's design, not a guarantee of ongoing payouts or of what that data-sharing is actually worth to a third party.
Where DIMO lives
On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
