What it actually costs to sell KEEP

Selling $100,000 of KEEP returned 84.9% less than the quoted price — Illiquid at this size. Measured 2026-10-18 on Ethereum.

What Keep Network is

Keep Network describes itself as a system of off-chain "containers" called keeps, designed to hold private data away from the public blockchain so that smart contracts can work with that data without exposing it. The stated aim is to let contracts tap into blockchain's transparency and verifiability while still keeping certain inputs confidential.

Mechanically, a keep stores and encrypts private data using secure multi-party computation (sMPC). Under sMPC, the data is split and distributed among multiple participants, none of whom sees the complete picture; computation happens across these fragments, with the result reassembled without any single party holding the full secret. This is how the network proposes to let smart contracts generate, store, encrypt and transmit private data among different users.

The source does not specify what applications run on top of keeps, how operators are selected or compensated, what guarantees exist against collusion among the multi-party computation participants, or what happens if a keep's data needs updating or disputing. It is deployed across Ethereum, Energi and Harmony, which means its security and behavior depend partly on the conditions of each of those chains rather than one self-contained environment. CoinGecko groups it under smart contract platforms and DeFi and lists backing from several named venture portfolios, but a classification and a cap table are not a description of working infrastructure — they say nothing about adoption, audit history or how many keeps are actually in use. Treat this as a protocol concept with a defined cryptographic mechanism, not as a measured record of real-world deployment.

On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.

Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.

The exit-friction index

Once a month we publish what a $100,000 exit really costs across every token we can measure. Leave an address and this month’s figure arrives straight away, and we will write again when the next index publishes. Nothing else, and never to anyone else.
