What Liquity is
Liquity is a token, LQTY, that captures fee revenue generated by the Liquity Protocol through staking. The protocol itself is a decentralized borrowing system that allows users to draw 0% interest loans against Ether used as collateral. Loans are paid out in LUSD and must maintain a minimum collateral ratio of 110%.
Beyond the collateral posted by a borrower, each loan is backstopped by a Stability Pool holding LUSD, and further by other borrowers who collectively act as guarantors of last resort. Liquity describes itself as non-custodial, immutable, and governance-free — meaning the protocol's rules cannot be altered by a vote or an admin key once deployed. LQTY holders stake the token to receive a share of the fees the system generates, rather than to vote on protocol changes.
LQTY is not a governance token: the source states Liquity is governance-free, so staking confers no voting rights over the protocol's parameters. It is not the stablecoin itself — LUSD is the borrowed asset; LQTY is the separate fee-capturing token. It is deployed on Ethereum and Arbitrum, per the available classification, and is categorized by third parties under DeFi and under the Alameda Research and Pantera Capital portfolio tags, which describe past investment exposure, not protocol function. No figures on supply, fee yield, or collateral levels appear in the source, so none are stated here.
Where LQTY lives
On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
