What Orbs is

Orbs describes itself as infrastructure built to bridge the functionality of a public blockchain with the security characteristics of a private one. The stated aim is to let enterprises operate on public blockchain rails without having to ask users to simply trust them — replacing that trust requirement with the ability to verify.

The source frames this as a positioning problem rather than a specific technical design: enterprises get, in principle, a competitive edge by offering users verifiable guarantees instead of institutional promises. No consensus mechanism, architecture, or technical process is described beyond this framing — the passage states the goal (public-chain functionality, private-chain security) without explaining the means by which Orbs achieves it.

What's measurable is narrower than the pitch. Orbs is classified by CoinGecko across a wide spread of categories — infrastructure, smart contract platform, DeFi — and tagged to several ecosystem groupings (BNB Chain, Avalanche, Polygon, Fantom, Harmony), which reflects breadth of deployment rather than depth in any one of them. It is live on seven networks: Arbitrum One, Avalanche, BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum, Fantom, Harmony, and Polygon PoS. Multi-chain presence of this kind indicates integration work, not usage or security guarantees on any given chain — being deployed somewhere is not the same as being load-bearing there. The source text itself offers no technical specification, no named founders or founding date, and no mechanism by which the "trust vs. verify" claim is actually enforced; readers wanting to know how the bridging works, rather than why it would be useful, will need to look beyond this material.

On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.

Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.

The exit-friction index

Once a month we publish what a $100,000 exit really costs across every token we can measure. Leave an address and this month’s figure arrives straight away, and we will write again when the next index publishes. Nothing else, and never to anyone else.
