Exchange figures need an account there (and KYC, a permitted country, the tokens already deposited), are before trading fees, and are never averaged with the on-chain figure. Binance is not included: it refuses requests from the region our servers are in. How this is measured →
Watch this number instead of remembering it. A free account keeps OGN on a list, records where it stood the day you added it, and emails you if selling it on these exchanges gets materially harder — one message, not a series. The measurement itself stays public; the account is for being told when it moves without you looking.
What Origin Token is
Origin Protocol is one of Ethereum's longest-standing DeFi projects, built with a multichain feature set intended to generate yield opportunities across the space. Its products are designed to be permissionless and composable, allowing integration with other protocols, and the system is structured so that rewards from Origin's products flow to OGN stakers.
OGN is the protocol's governance and value-accrual token. Holders can lock OGN for a period of one month to one year, receiving xOGN in proportion to the amount staked and the length of the lock-up; xOGN carries voting rights and a claim on economic rewards for the duration of the stake. Origin takes a performance fee from its yield-generating products and splits it in two: half goes directly to OGN stakers as additional rewards, and half is used to buy "flywheel" tokens intended to boost yield in the underlying protocols. xOGN holders form the Origin DAO, which votes on proposals and treasury allocations, with governance conducted on-chain.
OGN's value to a holder depends entirely on the fee revenue Origin's products generate and on the token's own governance weight — it is not a claim on any asset outside that ecosystem, and nothing in the source describes a fixed or capped supply, so no such figure can be stated here. Locking OGN for xOGN means giving up liquidity and price flexibility for the lock term, in exchange for voting power and a share of fees that vary with protocol usage. The token is deployed across Base, Ethereum, and Sonic, and is tagged by data aggregators under categories spanning DeFi, liquid staking, and several chain ecosystems — a breadth of classification that reflects how it is tracked, not a guarantee of how it will perform in any one of those contexts.
Where OGN lives
On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
