Render is a marketplace for GPU rendering, created by OTOY, a graphics company whose rendering software has been used in film and television production for years. The network connects artists who need frames rendered with people who have idle graphics cards, and RENDER is the token used to pay for the work.
Jobs are distributed to node operators, results are returned, and payment is released against completion. This is one of relatively few crypto networks with an identifiable pre-existing customer base — the demand for rendering capacity was real before the token existed, which is not something most infrastructure tokens can claim.
Two things are consistently overstated about it. It is frequently presented as an artificial-intelligence compute play; its core product is graphics rendering, which uses similar hardware but is a different market with different economics. And the value of the work actually flowing through the network has been small relative to the token's valuation, which means the price reflects expectations about a much larger future business rather than current throughput. The token also migrated between blockchains and changed ticker, an operational detail that stranded holders who missed the notice.
Where RENDER lives
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by the data source, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
