| Exchange | Lost | Got back | Measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase SAPIEN/USD | 1.17% | $98,831 | 2026-10-15 |

Exchange figures need an account there (and KYC, a permitted country, the tokens already deposited), are before trading fees, and are never averaged with the on-chain figure. Binance is not included: it refuses requests from the region our servers are in. How this is measured →
Watch this number instead of remembering it. A free account keeps SAPIEN on a list, records where it stood the day you added it, and emails you if selling it on these exchanges gets materially harder — one message, not a series. The measurement itself stays public; the account is for being told when it moves without you looking.

What Sapien is
Sapien describes itself as an AI quality company building Proof of Quality, or PoQ, a system for evaluating AI work. PoQ checks data, reasoning, outputs, decisions, and actions against a customer's own defined standard, with the stated aim of showing teams what to improve before they ship.
The premise is that as AI systems process more data, reason more, and make more decisions, the volume of judgment needed to confirm quality grows in step. Sapien's stated approach is not to insert a human expert into every piece of AI output, since that does not scale, but to build a process that applies scarce expert judgment selectively, where it is deemed to add the most value. The source does not detail the technical mechanics of how PoQ scores or verifies work, what data it draws on, or how "the customer's own standard" is encoded or enforced.
SAPIEN is deployed on Base, a single chain, and is categorized by CoinGecko under Artificial Intelligence, Infrastructure, Base Ecosystem, Governance, and Base Native tags — a governance classification suggests the token's role, if any, concerns protocol decisions rather than direct claims on revenue or company equity. Nothing in the source describes the token's function within PoQ itself, how the evaluation system generates revenue or usage data, who operates or audits the standard-setting process, or what stops "the customer's own standard" from being arbitrary or self-graded. No performance data, adoption figures, or client names accompany the description. As with any single-chain deployment, it inherits that chain's operational dependencies rather than running independently.
Where SAPIEN lives
On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
