What changed
Week to 15 OctoberNothing we measure moved much this week: the cost of selling on Base, trading volume, reported supply and price are all within their usual range.
From our own measurements only, each against the month before. We do not say why a price moves. How this is worked out · Every coin this week
What it actually costs to sell VIRTUAL

Selling VIRTUAL on exchanges
Selling $100,000 of VIRTUAL into each exchange’s resting bids, measured against the mid price:
| Exchange | Lost | Got back | Measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kraken VIRTUAL/USD | 0.54% | $99,464 | 2026-10-15 |
| Coinbase VIRTUAL/USD | 0.96% | $99,041 | 2026-10-15 |
Exchange figures need an account there (and KYC, a permitted country, the tokens already deposited), are before trading fees, and are never averaged with the on-chain figure. Binance is not included: it refuses requests from the region our servers are in. How this is measured →
Watch this number instead of remembering it. A free account keeps VIRTUAL on a list, records where it stood the day you added it, and emails you if selling it on these exchanges gets materially harder — one message, not a series. The measurement itself stays public; the account is for being told when it moves without you looking.
What Virtuals Protocol is
Virtuals Protocol is a launchpad platform launched in 2024 that lets users create, tokenize, and monetize AI agents for gaming, entertainment, and virtual environments without requiring technical expertise. It was built initially on Ethereum's Base Layer 2 network and has since expanded to Ethereum mainnet, Solana, and Ronin. VIRTUAL is the base liquidity pair and transactional currency for AI agent interactions across the ecosystem. The protocol was founded by Jansen Teng and Weekee Tiew, evolving out of PathDAO, a gaming guild established in 2021 that pivoted to AI agents in January 2024, with $16 million in seed funding led by DeFiance Capital and Beam.
New AI agents are created through a bonding curve for a 100 VIRTUAL fee. Users trade the agent's token until it accumulates 42,000 VIRTUAL, at which point it graduates to a permanent liquidity pool paired with VIRTUAL. Agents run on the GAME framework, which processes inputs, generates responses across text, speech, and 3D animation, and retains memory of past interactions; some can manage on-chain wallets autonomously. VIRTUAL holders can stake for veVIRTUAL to take part in DAO governance and may receive agent-token airdrops. Fees paid in VIRTUAL for agent interactions generate protocol revenue, which funds periodic buybacks and burns intended to reduce total supply.
VIRTUAL is not itself an AI product — it is infrastructure and currency for a marketplace of agents built by others, meaning its usefulness depends on the volume and quality of agents that get created and adopted on the platform. The buyback-and-burn mechanism is a claimed value-accrual design tied to agent-fee revenue, not a fixed yield or guaranteed reduction schedule, and its scale depends on ecosystem usage rather than any stated rate. Governance rights via veVIRTUAL do not equate to cash-flow rights, and staking or holding the token does not entitle a user to protocol earnings beyond whatever burn activity occurs. It is classified by CoinGecko across multiple categories — AI, AI Agents, Launchpad, and several chain ecosystems — reflecting a broad, still-forming sector rather than a single, settled use case. It is deployed across Base, Ethereum, Solana, and listed on Robinhood, which speaks to distribution, not to the performance or durability of any individual agent built on it.
What Virtuals Protocol can do
Selling $100,000 through the pools on Base returned 0.0% less than the quoted price. The full measurement →
Our own measurement · measured 14 October 2026
The total supply of VIRTUAL is 1 billion, and its white paper says it was minted with no future inflation. 35% sits in a treasury controlled by the protocol's DAO, which can release at most 10% a year for the next three years.

Where VIRTUAL lives
On Solana, a mint authority can create more of the token and a freeze authority can freeze it in a holder's account; both are read from the token itself, every day. On Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, GoPlus's analysis of each contract is read weekly: whether it has a function to block addresses or pause transfers, and whether an owner holds it. That is GoPlus's reading, not ours. Where a token exists on several chains, one copy's settings say nothing about the original coin.
Always verify a contract address against the project's own site before sending anything. Addresses are shown as published by CoinGecko, not as an endorsement — and identical-looking tokens on other chains are the most common way people lose money here.
