Coinme
Sells crypto for cash at Coinstar kiosks (more than 6,000, by its own count) and shop counters, and for a debit card in its app, into a Coinme wallet whose keys it holds. In 2023 the SEC settled charges that Coinme, a subsidiary and its CEO sold the UpToken in 2017 in an unregistered securities offering; Coinme agreed to pay a $250,000 penalty without admitting or denying the findings. In 2025 California's financial regulator fined it $300,000, $51,700 of it paid back to consumers, for over-limit cash transactions and incomplete receipts; in 2026 it ordered about $174,900 in refunds of fees above the state's cap.
